Mendzapp is a mobile app development start-up based in in the former heart of the UK's steel industry, Sheffield.
We are currently developing Foundbite for Windows Phone 8 funded by Microsoft and Nokia through the AppCampus program. The aim of this program is to generate a number of self-sustaining mobile-first start-ups and unique experiences that drive other developers and consumers to the fledgling platform.
We recently travelled to Finland and graduated from the AppCademy training camp run by the AppCampus team. Whilst there, we pitched Foundbite at Slush 2012 and were placed in the Top 20 out of over 100 other start-ups on the lightweight track.
Mendzapp was founded by James Mundy in 2011.
Foundbite is new form of media that combines audio clips (sound bites), photography and location.
In a world that finds us increasingly able to share our experiences with others easily, tweets and mobile photography reign supreme. Although sharing of video is popular, it's often seen as quite a commitment and ungainly to upload a short clip of your experience on the go.
This is where Foundbite comes in.
Foundbite allows you to take photos while you are simulaneously recording a sound clip and your location. You can then share this online and users/friends can relive your experience.
